Rampak Yakso Colossal Dance of the Dieng Plateau

Rampak Yakso is a colossal dance of the Dieng Plateau. Depicting war of Ghatotkacha assisted Raden Hanoman si Kera Putih ( the white monkey ) against the giants of the Kingdom Gilling Wesi (iron grinding). This colossal dance has always exhibited in Dieng Culture Festival held annually.

Basically, this dance has three main characters Ghatotkacha, Hanoman, and the Buto (giant) which is quite a lot. Ghatotkacha have stocky bodies, stout, and mighty with movements very cool. Hanuman is the monkey character with a white costume that keep moving wildly and fro like a monkey. Meanwhile, the most prominent is the Buto with costumes which looked terrible. Long hair, canines are out, and sharp eyes.

Last year, this traditional show on the last month of August 2014. If you have plane to visit this dance, be sure that you have good enough jacket or anything to covering your body from the coldest temperature in Java Island.
